  • The earliest representatives of the group occurred during the Early Miocene.
  • The group is well documented during the Late Miocene in Western Eurasia and Africa.
  • High species diversity occurred in Eurasia during the Pleistocene.
  • The fossil records of Rhinoceros and Dicerorhinus seems to be confined in the Indian subcontinent and East and South-East Asia.
